If you have ever listened to an audiobook, attached a seat belt or walked up a ramp, you have benefited from accessible design.

Specifically, you’ve experienced the “curb cut effect” — when accessible design for a certain group of society inadvertently helps out everyone else. The name stems from the wheelchair ramps added on sidewalk curbs that also allow baby strollers, bicycles and carts to easily get on or off the sidewalk.
